Primary Duties:

Under general direction of the Academic Technology Officer, the incumbent will provide technical and pedagogical support for faculty using campus-standard academic technology including but not limited to the Learning Management System (Blackboard Learn), Zoom, Kaltura, Google and other software such as Web Browsers, Microsoft, Adobe, etc. The incumbent will provide trouble-shooting, training and instructional design. The ITC will consult with faculty in designing, developing, and integrating applications wisely into courses using the CSU Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) rubric and other best practices for student success and engagement while also assisting in making course materials accessible. The ITC will also develop tutorials, step-by-step guides and videos on how to use academic technology tools in the teaching and learning environment. Responsibilities include collaboration and teamwork with faculty, TLP staff, TLP student assistants, Distributed Learning Technologies, Faculty Development and the campus community in general. The ITC will work with faculty face-to-face, by phone and in online environments such as Zoom, to accomplish training, consultation, and support of current and emerging technologies.

MANDATORY VACCINATIONS
The CSU will require faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19. This requirement will be effective at the beginning of the Fall 2021 term, or upon the full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of one or more vaccines, whichever occurs later. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE:
Thorough knowledge of:

  • Contemporary technology, including but not limited to PC and Mac computers, mobile devices, computer accessories, accounts, Internet, wifi.
  • Computer operating systems and hardware for basic troubleshooting.
  • Standard software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Adobe, etc.
  • Multiple web browsers and add-ons.
  • Internet navigation, searching, and web site standards and cloud applications (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive, Box).
  • Cloud software and navigation (including Dropbox, Box, GoogleDrive, etc.)
  • Training and consulting in technology and instructional design for a wide range of user abilities.
  • Customer Service.

Working knowledge of:

  • Instructional design theories and methodologies; contemporary design and application in higher education.
  • Educational technology and pedagogy, instructional innovations, academic computing, educational media, online and distance learning, multimedia including graphics and video.
  • User interface design principles and applications.
  • Quality and Learning Teaching (QLT) or Quality Matters (QM) rubric.
  • Constructing student learning objectives (SLOs).
  • Implementation of instructional materials including: assessment, design, and instructional modes of delivery.
  • Design, development and delivery of training on applications such as Blackboard Learn (Learning Management System), Zoom, Kaltura (video platform), Google, accessibility, and other related technology and pedagogy workshops.
  • Internet applications and Web development (all browsers, Acrobat, and other plug-ins).
  • Multimedia (digital audio and video), including third party products such as Camtasia, SnagIt, and audio software.
  • Graphic design, development and delivery of instructional materials.
  • Techniques used to evaluate new and emerging technologies, particularly Internet, educational technologies and multimedia.

General knowledge of:

  • Copyright laws.
  • Computer industry standards.
  • Data and security standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills that adapt to the individual ideas, goals and pedagogical styles of faculty.

  • Actively contribute to developing policies, procedures, and standards for best practices in online teaching and learning.
  • Research, recognize trends and evaluate new and emerging educational and multimedia technologies.
  • Stay current and share knowledge in fields related to educational technology and pedagogy, instructional innovations, academic computing, educational media, multimedia, online and distance learning.
  • Provide service leadership across TLP as needed.
  • Perform duties as assigned.
Required Education and/or Experience:

Requires the equivalent to a bachelor's degree in educational technology, communications, computer science, information systems, or related fields; or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. (More advanced degrees preferred.)
AND
Two years teaching in education with technology, at least half-time; or working as a professional supporting faculty using academic technology in teaching and learning in education, preferably higher education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without
reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office; and requires the need to regularly
position self to lift, move, and maintain computer equipment. Requires the need to travel across campus to other office buildings. Good balance, agility, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. is also required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office environment operating standard office and computer equipment. Works in classrooms, offices, and conference rooms. Occasionally presenting both on or off campus. Will need to travel across campus to complete work and visit faculty in their offices. The position also involves frequent interaction with other staff and students working collaboratively in similar situations or in team projects.

Benefit Information:

Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
