Do you want to apply your academic knowledge to real world app dev challenges? The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is currently seeking a Co-op for six months within our Information Technology department. The Intern will be assigned to our Members Team, assisting with supporting, maintaining and developing systems used at the Bank. This is an opportunity to grow your financial systems knowledge through development of the Bank's inhouse and vendor-supported systems.

Accountabilities:

  • Coding, designing and application management.
  • Troubleshooting, monitoring updates and possible security threats.
  • Providing end user support.

Requirements:
  • Sophomore through Senior working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or graduate student in Masters of Engineering/Computer Science program.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Interest in or understanding of financial institutions and financial instruments.
  • Java stack development knowledge.
  • Knowledge of agile/waterfall development practices.
  • MS SQL Server knowledge, including SQL Server Reporting Services and/or SQL Server Integration Services.

Core bank hours are 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Current students and candidates with a strong interest in application development and who are able to work full-time hours are preferred.

Compensation Range:
Hourly: $20.00 - $25.00

This salary range represents the Bank's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. Offer to be determined by selected applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills & abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.This role is also eligible to participate in the Bank's annual incentive plan.
