Information Security Internship

The candidate chosen for this role will work alongside team members in the Security Operations Center (SOC) to provide tier I functions of continuously monitoring the alert queues, triaging security alerts and triage all reported spam / phishing emails.

When an incident is detected, you will work with the team to collect data to help incident response, understand and mitigate the threat. You will analyze alerts to figure out just how many systems are affected and initiate any recovery efforts.

For this role, we need someone driven, willing to work in a fast-paced environment, loves learning new technologies and is up-to the challenge of threat hunting to look for suspicious activity through leveraging existing infrastructure to determine malicious activity through log analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tier 1 triage support for all alerts / emails
• Support assignments involving the execution of a series of security-related tasks in network environments
• Document and investigate simple security incidents as directed and monitored by senior-level colleagues
• Escalate the appropriate incident response protocol when a security incident has been identified
• Assist in gathering security metrics and preparing reports for applicable stakeholders
• Remain current on industry standards for security in a technology environment
• All other duties as assigned

Technical Skills

• Basic technical problem-solving skills
• Basic knowledge of security environments
• Installation/troubleshooting in web-based environments
• Basic understanding of IT security industry standards
• Basic knowledge of IT network concepts and processes
• Basic oral and written communication skills
