Provide support and training distribution center associates, supervisors, operations management, on the effective work processes, standard work, work methods and utilization of data and reporting to track key KPIs in order to meet/exceed distribution goals.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of engineered work standards on traditional distribution processes and the labor management system. Assigned process improvement projects by the Director of IE Distribution. Provide the critical thinking, in depth data analysis and work place solutions within the distribution center and overall distribution network.

Facilitation of Continuous Improvement/Lean events and needed audits to sustain and provide feedback. This role is responsible for seeking opportunities for cost reductions and improve throughput from a strategic/tactical level point of view. Will utilize strong analytic skills, data mining and database development to get accurate and value added information.

The Industrial Engineer will be concerned with the efficient process flow, process improvement and safe utilization of labor within the HBI distribution center. This role will be involved with classical industrial activities such as: work measurement, facility layouts, new equipment and/or processes, data analysis and productivity improvements by utilizing lean concepts, ergonomics and Labor Management Systems. The Industrial Engineer will work in conjunction with the distribution operations team to develop process improvement solutions, layout changes and engineered work standards for tracking labor performance across distribution processes. He/She will utilize Manhattan's WM 20XX Warehouse management system and Labor Management System (LMS) , Kronos time and attendance system, SQL / Power BI, Slotting and AutoCAD among other software tools. This role will be a critical member of the HBI distribution team and an extension of the global HBI IE Distribution network, which will provide continuous improvement within the organization.


The Industrial Engineer reports to the Director of Distribution. Primary responsibilities of the job are as follows:

  • To develop, update and maintain the engineered work standards within the distribution network. This can be accomplished by traditional stopwatch time studies or pre determined time standards (MOST) and more recently specialized apps in handheld devices (E.g. UMT).
  • Develop and analyze complex and detailed data and reporting to synthesize information leading to problem resolution and continuous improvement. Supply critical feedback to concerned parties, and formulate plans for operator/process improvement.
  • Develop and Maintain accurate plant layouts and equipment utilization in a dynamic environment.
  • Troubleshoot any issues related to the operational performance of the facility.
  • Work closely with the Director of IE Distribution and the Distribution Center leadership team on assigned projects. These projects will be process improvement based.
  • Supervision of project lifecycles including scope, objectives, resources, project management and results delivery - close coordination with internal/external operational/support functions.
  • Responsible for performing product/process cost analysis for potential project assignments for the facility, proactively conducting audits or providing direction at shop floor level on production adherence to SOP's/ELS.
  • The ability to travel to distribution centers in the HBI network.

  • The Industrial Engineer Operations will possess a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering or similar related degree with 4 plus yrs related work experience. Demonstrated work experience with data mining and data base development is required.
  • Must be proficient with Excel, SQL, Power BI, Word, Power Point and AutoCad.
  • Strong project management skills are required.
  • Candidates should be familiar with Warehouse and Labor Management Systems particularly Manhattan versions and Kronos.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a must.
  • More than 3 years experience in using and providing Lean Six Sigma training and certification preferred.
  • More than 3 years of work experience with Warehouses and/or fulfillment/distribution centers is preferred.
