This Opportunity

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Scientist with a background in immunology or related field to join the Early Discovery Oncology Bioscience team in Gaithersburg, MD. You will interrogate the biology of new immunomodulatory targets or target pathways using cutting-edge technologies and novel approaches to enrich our immunotherapy pipeline. We will offer you opportunity to work with a team of cross functional scientists and be responsible for the in vivo pharmacology strategy supporting deliverables for projects. This is critical to supporting the development of new and successful cancer therapies.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • Working in this laboratory-based position within Oncology Research you will develop, design, conduct and analyze both in vivo and in vitro experiments to assess the function of our candidate oncology drugs and dissect the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapeutics.
  • You will be expected to support cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with project leaders to ensure the timely generation, and dissemination of critical program data, and contribute to scientific publication goals.
  • As a highly organized, self-motivated individual with a strong background in laboratory science you will stay up to date with relevant technical and intellectual scientific expertise in tumor biology, pharmacology and cancer modelling and have a genuine passion for this field of research.

Education Requirements

• B.S, in Biology, Immunology or other related scientific discipline with 3-6 yrs. relevant scientific experience; M.S. - 2-5 yrs. MS desired but not required .Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred but not essential.

  • Necessary Skills and Experience Required
  • Developing and working with different in vivo models of cancer including subcutaneous, orthotopic and transgenic/inducible models in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient animals. Sampling and processing of tissues for downstream analysis.
  • Experience across multiple platforms to develop and analyze PD biomarker endpoints in tumors and tissues.
  • Design and implementation of multi-parameter flow cytometry, ability to analyze and determine next steps based on results of experimental outcomes
  • Works independently, assesses and reports data in a clear and concise manner, with a clear understanding of its implications within the overall context of drug discovery.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills together with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
