Summary:
The Department of Cancer Genetics and Genomics led by expert pathologist and widely published researcher, Dr. Agnes Witkiewicz is in search of a candidate for the position of HRI Scientist to spearhead the management of an array of digital pathology instruments that are opening new insights into the spatial tumor microenvironment.

Performs basic and applied research involving the formulation, conduct, analysis, interpretation and reporting of scientific investigations of phenomena or problems associated with the cause, cure, treatment, and prevention of cancer; conducts and may supervise phases of creative, original and independent scientific research studies in a specific field of assignment; defines problems and issues that enhances the development of scientific research programs; contributes significantly to a base of scientific knowledge; may teach in graduate education programs; generates peer-reviewed funding for Institute scientific research projects.

The idea candidate for this role would have a strong background in multispectral immunofluorescent staining techniques and the quantitative analysis of biomarkers for spatial significance. Specific expertise with the Vectra Polaris Anatomical Imager from AKOYA and its inForm software package, Leica BOND RXm Automated Stainer, and the GeoMx Digital Spatially Profiler from NanoString highly preferred.

This individual would directly supervise multiple technicians working on the above-mentioned equipment as well as manage the related ordering and inventory. The HRI scientist will work in a highly collaborative setting, frequently interacting with vendor specialists as well as research teams within and outside our lab. They will act as the point of communication for interested investigators from initial inquiry to data delivery and billing. Accurate data recording, strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are critical to success in this role. A robust publication history and aptitude for manuscript writing would be highly beneficial.

Required Skills:
• Advanced graduate degree in Cancer biology, immunology, or a closely related field
• Strong academic publication history
• Demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas: multispectral immunofluorescent staining and image acquisition, experience with GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler, experience with BOND RXm Automated Stainer, experience with AKOYA Vectra Polaris and inForm platform.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Experience managing a multi-person team

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
PhD required; post-doc completion preferred
3+ years of relevant experience in biomedical image acquisition and analysis desired
