Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The HR Compliance Generalist performs broad professional HR activities; which includes ensuring policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance, responsible for the completion and follow up of transactional HR items, responsible for creating HR communications, facilitates and administers HR training, and is responsible for miscellaneous HR special projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works cross functionally with the HR Generalist to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Assists in facilitating on-boarding processes for new hires to include pre-employment paperwork, background check reviews and documentation and conducts new hire orientation when necessary.
  • Makes recommendations to improve employment policies and procedures. Educates employees, line, and functional managers on policies and procedures. Ensures consistent and equitable policy administration and conducts training as necessary.
  • Acts as a valued resource: functions as a key advisor and business partner to functional leaders; acts as liaison to the corporate HR Department and the field; represents the HR Department in companywide project initiatives.
  • Manages compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Serves as communication liaison for the HR group by organizing and developing informational content for distribution that enhances the HR service offerings to employees.
  • Participates in national and regional projects and initiatives such as new program rollouts, policy changes and enhancement communications, reorganizations, and acquisition integration.
  • Assists in ensuring companywide compliance with the Form I-9 process including completion of employer sections in Workday, following up on open items, and auditing for compliance.
  • Administers HR training to managers and employees and assists by being a backup administrator of the LMS site.
  • Assists in aspects of employee relations for OCS and Field by being backup to the RHRMs and the HR Generalist, and follows up to ensure employee relations issues are resolved.
  • Assists in completing DOT Employment Verifications. DOT employment verifications can be sent via email, fax, and/or can be conducted over the phone.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and process improvements.
  • Provides support to the company's Mergers & Acquisitions activities within the assigned area and helps lead on-site HR transition efforts.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of principles and practices of human resource administration, effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

Internal: Contact with all levels of employees, at both corporate and field locations.

External: High profile exposure to include vendors.

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment; and compliance with generally accepted administrative principles and corporate policy and procedure. Performance must be timely and accurate or serious problems could occur.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None, this is an individual contributor role.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

College degree required and a minimum of 1-2 years' experience with field industrial human resources preferred. Strong ability to develop partnerships with clients/others. Good presentation, facilitation and computer skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to research and analyze various different type of data information. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Basic knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources. Workday Experience preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Typical office environment, generally sedentary position using computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Weekend and evening work may be required. Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships and reason through complex business situations is essential.
