Hospitalist Positions - Hospital Medicine (UMC) -Full Time

Position Summary

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, the largest multi-specialty clinician practice in the Washington, DC area, is hiring a Physician for the Department of Hospital Medicine at United Medical Center. Our physicians play an integral role not only in staffing the inpatient service but also in education, research, and innovative practice. The applicant should possess a solid medicine knowledge base and excellent communication skills. Applicant must have or be able to obtain DC licensure, CDS / DEA numbers, and hospital credentials. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs evaluation and problem identification of patients
  • Performs history and physical examination of patients.
  • Order and interpret laboratory data and radiological tests
  • Monitor patient status and response to treatments
  • Adequately document findings in the electronic medical record
  • Recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Interact with consultants as appropriate
  • Provide education and counseling for patients
  • Order appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Supervise health science and medical students as appropriate
  • Perform procedures for which practitioner is credentialed as dictated by patient need.
  • Interact with nursing and technologist staff
  • Participate in educational programs of the Department
  • Participate in quality assurance, risk management and compliance efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: Current licensure as physician in appropriate jurisdiction. Board cerification is required

Experience: 2 years of experience as a hospitalist is preferred but new graduates will be considered.

Competencies: Applicant must have or be able to obtain DC licensure, CDS/DEA numbers, and hospital credentials. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
