In this role, the Histology Tech will support the delivery of patient care by performing histology techniques that are utilized in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performs histology processing including embedding, microtomy and manual/automated staining in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation requirements. Demonstrates the organizational skills required to complete work assignments within the time scheduled.
  • Performs routine maintenance duties to support the functions of the department including, unpacking supplies, scheduled equipment maintenance, cleaning of workspaces and equipment. Recognizes and resolves minor problems with automated devices.
  • Conducts and documents established quality control procedures on equipment and reagents. Recognizes an acceptable quality control results. Implements and documents appropriate corrective action.

Position Requirements

Required:
  • High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
  • Experience cutting and embedding
Preferred:
  • Associates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education

Licensure/Certifications:

Preferred:
  • Registered Histotechnician (ASCP)
