Basic Job Functions:

DJJ has an immediate opening for a Hedging and Contract Specialist in the Metals Group Trading Office. This role reports to the Hedging and Contract Supervisor and is expected to focus primarily on aluminum and copper risk management and the related hedging and contract activities.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement hedging strategies to protect against adverse price movements in aluminum and copper scrap. This involves analyzing market trends, monitoring pricing indicators, and executing hedging transactions such as futures contracts
  • Market Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on the nonferrous scrap metal market, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing trends, and macroeconomic factors. Stay updated on industry news and regulatory changes that may impact the market
  • Contract Management: Enter, maintain, and manage contracts received from our Recycling Group. Ensure accurate and error-free contract entry, monitor contract terms, and handle contract troubleshooting
  • Pricing and Pricing Strategies: Collaborate with Commercial Team to determine pricing strategies for unhedged/open priced orders. Monitor pricing deadlines and ensure timely pricing from customers. Provide pricing reports and updates as necessary
  • Relationship Management: Work closely with traders, customers, suppliers, internal teams, and hedging counterparties to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on inventory volumes, open orders, priced orders, and other relevant metrics. Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide insights to support decision-making
  • Provide support to Commercial Team and other team members during travel or periods of high workload
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Monitor and mitigate risks associated with contract discrepancies, margin reports, and customer creditworthiness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a business discipline
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously and as a member of the team
  • Open to future relocation (company paid) to opportunities throughout the enterprise

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the scrap metal recycling and steel industries
  • Demonstrate a high level of computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
