The Healthcare Data Scientist is responsible for the analysis of diverse data from sources. This person will develop expert understanding of key healthcare business processes, quality program requirements, measure specifications and business strategies and identify fundamental drivers with relationships to outcomes, prioritize data needs and share insights utilizing software and statistical methods throughout the analytic process.

***REMOTE OPPORTUNITY for Oregon, Washington or Idaho Residents***

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities include the following:

  • Engage clinical and business leadership to understand business requirements, extract and analyze data, predict and measure outcomes and develop statistical analysis plans focused on improving quality of care, utilization, patient experience and costs for specific populations.
  • Leverage advanced statistical, exploratory and predictive analysis techniques to gain data insights while working with large and complex data sets.
  • Develop innovative solutions and approaches to translate relevant raw data from multiple sources into accurate and actionable insights through reports, presentations, tables, charts, and graphs to present complex data in a format that is both useful and understandable to inform decision making.
  • Use data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to design accurate and aesthetic dashboards and enable self-service applications for stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance across the organization toward novel approaches for statistical modeling, data mining, and/or machine learning to address business objectives and empower strategic decision making.
  • Provide clear technical input, options, and directions to strategic decisions for research data strategy and best practices for real-world data utilization.
  • Recommend, develop and implement systems, procedures, and forms that enable organization to effectively collect, manage and display data.
  • Make recommendations for operational changes, target specific goals, and refine population health strategies; translate activities into general terms for non-technical audiences and senior leaders.
  • Promote highly reliable performance measurement and reporting systems that supports the organization wide continuous quality improvement, clinical effectiveness, and external reporting.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Travel: Estimated travel up to 10%


Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Predictive Analytics or relevant field.

Minimum three years' experience with big data, database query and analysis languages (e.g. SQL, Snowflake SQL, R, Scala, SAS, and Python) and data visualization tools (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services and/or Tableau).

Minimum three years' related experience in Population Health Informatics, Healthcare Intelligence and/or Clinical Informatics.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in programming or data mining.

Experience working in big data/cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time). Occasional stress related to deadline pressure.

Work Environment

Primarily office and clinic settings. Estimated travel requirements up to 10%.
