SUMMARY

The Health Communications SME provides communications support services to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) Public Health Infrastructure Program (PHI). Supports the overall planning, development, and implementation of communication strategies, ensuring that such activities consistently and effectively represent CNI and the client's brand message and image.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops, executes, and manages strategic communication plans and goals, and ensures that all tasks are completed within the timeline.

Provides day-to-day operations support for communications, including but not limited to developing and/or reviewing communications materials, assisting in coordinating clearance (as needed), developing presentations and/or other documentation, aggregate status visualizations, etc.

Works to create compelling images (infographics) that could be used for presentations, reports, stakeholder outreach, etc.

Works to ensure timely execution of communication plans and deliverables, both internally and externally. Proactively communicates with all levels of management and stakeholders. Coordinates cross-functional efforts where needed.

Ensures superb project management and efficient routing for internal approval of all communication projects. Focuses on continual process improvements and implements best practices to manage projects efficiently. Determine key metrics and success criteria for communication activities/projects.

Provides the organization with standardized branding and logo templates for use internally and externally.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Communications, Marketing, Business or a related field of study, and a minimum of five (5) years' related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATION

Working knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and policies.

Exceptional communications skills (i.e., verbal, written and presentation) with ability to influence and manage change.

Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office.

Operational knowledge and understanding of effective communication strategies, messaging and custom audience targeting.

Proficiency in document development with ability to implement originality, a clear understanding of the information to be communicated, and the mission of the CDC.

Knowledge using visual media to create communication materials.

Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.

Solid analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to evaluate analyze and disseminate information in a variety of venues.

Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to manage workload and time effectively.

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The pay range for this role is $125,000-$135,000, with the final offer amount dependent on location, skillset, and experience.
