This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

Open to Canadian Residents who are willing to commute to their US primary work location at least 60% of the time.

OVERVIEW

General Motors (GM) has a rich history in hydrogen fuel cell technology dating back nearly 60 years, transferring NASA Apollo space mission learning to the very first fuel cell powered automotive concept vehicle - the 1966 Electrovan. Today, GM's Global Fuel Cell Business is creating clean energy solutions for a gamut of commercial vehicle segments as well as non-traditional, non-automotive land, sea, and air applications, including stationary power and hydrogen energy storage. Most recently, GM announced that it will be supplying HYDROTEC fuel cell power cubes to Navistar for use in its production fuel cell heavy duty trucks - the International® RHTM Series.

GM HYDROTEC Fuel Cell Design Integration Engineering - A multidisciplinary, cross-functional team responsible for designing and developing GM's HYDROTEC fuel cell systems. This team of skilled and experienced GM fuel cell engineers works in close partnership with Honda counterparts in the US and in Japan. GM is partnered with Honda to combine each company's fuel cell technical strengths and to share development and production investments.

Our HYDROTEC Fuel Cell Design Integration Engineering Team is helping to develop today's and tomorrow's fuel cell systems with capability and flexibility to meet a wide range of scalable, zero emissions applications. We are currently looking for talented and motivated Lead Engineers to support fuel cell system development and integration into novel, non-automotive applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Release GEN3 Fuel Cell System and/or Fuel Cell Power Cube assemblies, carryover dress parts, and installation drawings
  • Define and maintain master BOMs
  • Provide build specification sheet and build instructions to the build group
  • Support the BRT for timely delivery of pre-production builds
  • Support Plan for Every Part Reviews (PFEP)
  • Support all Pre-production Build activity including build site issues
  • Work with design room supervisors to monitor progress on design work, resolve conflicts, and assure drawing release timing
  • Coordinate CRV and PPDRs
  • Support production readiness activities
  • Ensure all design aspects are addressed to meet key program milestones and timing
  • Support program timing workshop as required
  • Support timing studies as required
  • Facilitate / support the change management process.
  • Resolve issues across Integration teams
  • Attend / support PAPIR, ADV, PRTS, BRT meetings as appropriate
  • Support Engineering Change Request review and approvals.
  • Launch support in the plant, including material shortage and support spills/crisis
  • Problem Resolution Tracking System/Issue Resolution prioritization and follow up
  • Plant Tryout and Production Trial Run support
  • Bill of Material tool maintenance - insure accurate content and approval of changes
  • Validation plan development property support
  • Special projects
  • Assists in regulation and compliance execution
  • Support Cost reduction initiatives
  • Assists in implementing engineering changes
  • Support the Implementation of test/development plans
  • Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products

Additional Job Description

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or other engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Understanding of electrified vehicle system and integration
  • High level of project management skills and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports
  • Ability to create and present information to leadership, peers, customers and suppliers in a clear and concise manner
  • Must function well in engineering design team environment and have experience working with manufacturing engineering, and other engineering teams
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel to as required.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience with Fuel Cell Systems, electrification products, including High voltage systems
  • Master of Science in Electrical /Mechanical or other engineering discipline
  • Act as back-up for the DSE as required
