Position Overview
The recently created Strategic Services and Innovation team serves as a center of excellence supporting NPD Group product teams for the new product development process as well as for strategic commercial aspects of product management such as pricing, packaging, and go-to-market.
This new role will report directly to the SVP of Strategic Services and Innovation. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for leading methodical inquiry into new markets and new product opportunities for NPD. This will be a hands-on role requiring you to perform market analysis, opportunity assessments, product positioning exercises, and development of reports and presentations based on inputs and cooperation with multiple global commercial and product teams.
As the Director of Strategic Market Assessment you will also act as the Product Management leader on selected early stage initiatives, taking validated ideas through early phases of market research, ideation, prototyping, and market validation.
You will work collaboratively with several partners, including our Executive Director of Customer Experience and User Research, our Innovation Lab, and our competitive research team to produce reports and business cases supporting new product investment, partnerships, and product expansion strategies.
The ideal candidate will bring both a consulting framework and innovation process approach to the role, and be passionate about delving into every aspect of the business, seeking to understand the dynamics and business drivers, the market, industry, its competitors, and customers in order to be a thought leader who identifies new opportunities for the Company. The candidate should also be passionate about market research, data and insights. Familiarity with the consumer market research industry and / or data-driven products is highly desired.
