The manager develops and refines organization-wide learning and leadership development strategies that align to organization-wide strategies. Supporting these strategies, the Global Learning Manager will design and deploy global learning programs and resources. The Manager will also develop and oversee standards, systems, and resources to ensure all learning programs (leadership development, technical, compliance, and other skills development) programs are delivered according to sound adult learning principles. Finally, the Global Learning Manager will support change management efforts for major organizational changes, focusing on the "people side" of organizational change.

Key Job Outcomes:

  • Aligning learning to strategy: Establishes, drives, and evolves a learning strategy that enables Pathfinder to achieve its organization-level strategic visions or frameworks.
  • Learning Program Leadership: Collaboratively leads and manages all phases of L&D programs from needs analysis, through design and delivery, to adaptation and evolution.
  • Leadership Development and Manager Strengthening: Leads a process to develop clear, simple expectations for leaders and people managers. Designs and delivers programs to enable leaders to meet those expectations.
  • Change Management: Supports Pathfinder leadership in considering the "people side" of implementing major organizational changes. Creates and implements change management strategies that maximize employee adoption and minimize resistance.
  • Standards and Systems: Establishes global standards for Learning and Development, including accountabilities and governance. Ensures consistent delivery and reporting on all modalities of learning through the MyPathfinder Learning platform.
  • Support in Adult Learning: Provides Pathfinder subject matter experts (SMEs) with resources (e.g. guidelines and job aids) and direct support to deliver trainings using sound adult learning methods and concepts.
  • Pathfinder Core Curriculum: Partners with SMEs on the establishment, delivery, and institutionalization of a Pathfinder "core curriculum," or a set of foundational knowledge all Pathfinders would be expected to have within a certain role or level.
  • Vendor Management and External Content: Rationalizes, procures and manages external vendors/consultants and learning content, as appropriate.

Minimally Required Job-Specific Competencies:
  • Learning: Proven ability to design, implement, and manage learning approaches at all levels of the organization.
    • Well-versed in best principles in adult learning, design thinking, and other foundational L&D program design methodologies.
    • Strong knowledge of leadership, management, and executive development including management and leadership development programs, assessments and executive coaching.
    • Well-versed in blended learning, digital learning, and just-in-time/ performance support approaches
    • Skill in developing eLearning courses using a course authoring software such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate. Strong understanding of LMS technologies.
    • Proven track record of establishing a vision for learning and leadership development and building a high-quality portfolio of multiple learning programs that together achieve said vision
  • Facilitation: Mastery of skills in facilitation, including proven ability to facilitate group decision-making, problem-solving, and complex learning.
  • Change Leadership: Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in managing change across a broad group of stakeholders in an inclusive manner.
  • Presentation Skills: Proven ability to make presentations on results to small and large groups.
  • Community Relations: Mastery of skills in facilitating work relationships with a broad global perspective and the ability to lead with cultural awareness across a diverse, global organization
  • Influence: Influence others through expertise, information-sharing, storytelling, collaboration, and project management.
  • Project Management: Track record of successfully driving large-scale global programs to completion within time and budget

Minimally Required Organizational Competencies:
  • Software Applications: Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Languages: Proven written and oral communication skills in English required; French preferable.
  • Self-Management and Teamwork: Ability to work independently or as a member of the team, ability to work with people from different cultures, ability to thrive in a matrixed organization, ability to be detailed-oriented, and ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication and Influencing Skills: Proven ability to influence others, including donor agencies and local partners, through diplomacy and proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Passion for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights: Commitment to family planning, reproductive health services, gender, maternal, child health services, and eradication of harmful traditional practices.
  • Matrix Management: Ability to thrive in a matrixed organization.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality on work-related matters.

Minimally Required Education, Training and Experience:
  • BS required, Master's degree (or equivalent) preferred in training and development, learning and organizational development, education, information systems, social sciences or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience that yields the required competencies.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in learning and organizational development or similar.

Preferred Training and Experience:
  • Experience administering or configuring SharePoint or other content management system such as SuccessFactors, Ceridian, Cornerstone, PeopleFluent. Canvas. Content Management System experience preferred.
  • Experience managing or designing a Learning Management System.
  • Experience living or working in a developing country preferred
  • Experience supporting global health or development implementation preferred.

  • Travel required (up to 30%)
