Job Description

Summary

In order to cope with the evolution of the Automotive industry, SGS wishes to maximize the opportunities by creating a unique business unit to serve the industry under its division Connectivity & Products. We aim to offer a real "one-stop shop solution" for testing and evaluation including the full range of chemical, mechanical, physical and electronics testing services and cover the whole supply chain from materials and components to the entire vehicle.

  • Manage a portfolio of Global Key Accounts (Automakers and first tier OEM) within a region
  • Act as the voice of SGS when talking to the client and the voice of the client within SGS
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of each KA strategy to identify how to best market SGS services and maximize share of wallet
  • Maintain a positive and productive business relationship with assigned KAs by securing current business, resolving problems, maximizing work opportunities and optimizing new work potential
Job Functions
  • Establish Materials Testing Services in North America (NAM) with focus on the Automotive industry, and VOC testing by organic and acquisitive growth
  • Responsibility for the strategic planning, business planning, budgeting and operational management of Automotive Materials Testing Services in the US.
  • Ensuring operation's conformance with SGS quality standards, their optimized operational efficiency and adherence to the global Code of integrity and Operational Integrity guidelines
  • Permanently observe NAM market for Automotive materials testing services, actively listen to customer needs and support regional deployment with a special emphasis on NAM expansion. Support global Testing Services strategy by providing relevant market intelligence, especially on chemical (VOC testing) and physical testing.
  • Manage in close cooperation with VP US Automotive Testing Services the 17025 accreditation processes for the NAM materials testing operations.
  • Manage in close cooperation with the Global Manager Material Testing Services the OEMs accreditation processes relevant for the NAM materials testing operations.
  • Drive relationships with the management of North American OEMs regarding their test lab accreditation programs in order to grow the number of relevant OEM accreditations for the Materials testing laboratory network
  • Report and keep track of planning and KPIs with focus on customer satisfaction and profitability
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.
  • Promote the image, capability and integrity of SGS to our clients.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks within the above mission as assigned by the VP US Automotive Testing Services
  • Stop any service delivery that may affect the quality / integrity of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
  • This position will require approximately 30% travel

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Significant (more than 5 years) experience in managing in a senior position in materials testing laboratory for the industry sectors automotive; knowledge of the respective quality systems and product/components standards; experience on VOC testing is a plus
  • Minimum BS. level engineering degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Fluent in English
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge and experience in test lab processes and organization
  • Experience in planning and organizational development
  • Experiences in testing and /or auditing processes and systems
  • Experience in materials and component standards and OEM requirements
  • Training/Learning/Knowhow transfer skills
