Job Description

GM's Global Innovation team is pursuing a Product Manager who will focus on energy storage systems innovation related to stationary applications. The Stationary Energy Storage Systems Product Manager will be responsible for helping GM understand and accelerate the effort to achieve a cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient future. GM is currently seeking an individual with deep knowledge in the stationary energy storage field including demonstrated experience in engineering system design and large-scale product commercialization. The Stationary Energy Storage Systems Product Manager will support a cross-functional team in investigating opportunities to leverage core GM battery technology in new growth areas, as well as, bring technical know-how required to support the execution of new products.

Objectives and Key Deliverables

• Provide battery energy storage system expertise and key industry knowledge regarding potential market opportunities and customer product needs.
• Ability to connect with key industry players and support the development of partnerships (including PV, utility scale power generation, residential, and commercial energy storage).
• Support the evaluation and development of innovative product concepts and high-level design for battery systems intended to be used in stationary energy storage systems.
• Support the development of system, component, and sub-component specifications for the various elements of an energy storage systems including functional, performance, safety and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate product solutions to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable designs.
• Work cross-functionally to curate efficient technologies/solutions/components for innovative product design.
• Work cross functionally with product development, delivery, supply chain, sales, marketing, and quality to launch prototypes, and commercial products and solutions.
• Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and development programs.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills:

• +10 years of product development experience in battery and/or stationary energy storage systems and renewables.
• Deep business and technical knowledge in stationary battery energy storage systems and alternative energy solutions; including large-scale commercialization of new products.
• Demonstrated excellent leadership of technology development & deployment into major projects.
• Experience with commercial, residential, and utility scale energy storage systems.
• Proficient in evaluating battery cell/module/rack technologies for performance and value.
• A strong background in developing and deploying software solutions enabling interactions between the stationary energy storage system, the electrical grid, renewable energy systems, and DERs.
• Knowledge of batteries and energy storage certifications and compliance standards.
• Proficient in battery and stationary energy storage engineering standards, policies, and procedures
• Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills required to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate others in group situations
• Demonstrated high level of strategic agility and desire to work in a complex and evolving environment and an innovation mindset.
• Highly proficient in oral and written communication skills
• Team player attitude internally and externally.
• Willing to travel 30% of the time.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, chemical, mechanical, or other relevant engineering field required.
• Master's in engineering or business administration desired
