Job Description

As aGeotechnical Engineer, you will bring your expertise and unique solutions to highly visible and challenging infrastructure projects for a variety of GPI's private and public clients.

In this role, you will work with a team of highly motivated Project Managers, Principals, Engineers, Technicians, and Construction Inspectors, on vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects, which will allow you to grow personally and professionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop subsurface investigation programs in support of structural and site/civil design including site reconnaissance
  • Coordination and oversight of soil boring operations, site soil evaluations, analysis, and design
  • Specification of geotechnical related laboratory analysis
  • Writing field reports, geotechnical engineering reports, technical specifications, and permit applications
  • Perform geotechnical calculations and advanced numerical modeling/programming for various projects, including but not limited to, seepage and slope stability of earthen embankments, stability of rock slopes, stability of concrete structures, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, segmental retaining walls, soil improvement analysis, and design, tieback anchors, site response analysis, liquefaction, perk rate assessments, settlement calculations, and seismic stability calculations
  • Preparing construction plans, cost/quantity estimates, and project scheduling.
  • Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members.
  • Perform typical project management duties, including the development of Scope of Work, Fee Estimates, sub-consultant agreements, and invoicing
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required
  • MS degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical Engineering focus is preferred
  • PE license required
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required; AutoCAD proficiency preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
