Responsibilities

Early Education

Develops curricula for classroom and assistant teachers.
Develops and conducts classroom instruction.
Maintains appropriate records and evaluations related to the participation, performance and accomplishments of children enrolled in the program.
Conducts regular developmental assessments.
Works with Early Intervention Specialist to determine priorities and adapted lesson plans for children with exceptionalities.
Regularly updates child's classroom file.

Supervision

Oversees the instructional staff for both classrooms in pod.
Supervises, instructs, trains and evaluates student teaching staff, practicum students, interns and volunteers.
Holds regular meetings with pod teaching team.
Communicates regular with pod teaching team regarding lesson plans, themes, and program policies, information and events.

Professional Development

Participates in workshops, conferences, and seminars.

Administration

Updates classroom accreditation portfolio.
Communicates regularly with families regarding child progress and development, classroom activities, and program information and events.
Conducts Family/Teacher conferences as needed.
Assists in the planning and implementation of program staff training.
Attends open houses for families and center tours for prospective families.
Attends schedule team meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Service or related field with a focus on early education.
Minimum of two years classroom experience working with children ages 6 weeks - 12 months.
Must have completed state-mandated 40-hour DCF training, First Aid and CPR.Knowledge and understanding of lesson plan design, curriculum implementation and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
