SUMMARY

Coordinates and directs flight crew training and assists with developing flight training programs for the flight crew organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, and other related duties may be assigned, including special projects:

• Confers with Director of Operations to determine flight crew training needs.
• Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, CPT and computer based training.
• Trains flight crewmembers, new employees, on-the-job training, recurrent training, health and safety practices.
• Responsible for training crewmembers in the Simulator performs Simulator Check Airman duties and performs ground school instructions.
• Performs Line Check Airman duties, and maintains ferry and functional check flights status.
• Performs line observation for quality assurance.
• Is an Aircrew Program Designee.
• Responsible for ETOPS ground and Loft Training.
• Maintain records and to evaluate performance and monitor progress of trainees.
• Screens, tests, counsels, and recommends crewmembers for participation in internal or external educational and training programs.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, an Instrument Rating, a Multi-Engine Rating and/or Flight Engineer Turbo Jet Certificate.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must meet at least the minimums required by the Federal Aviation Regulations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must meet at least the minimum certificates required by the Federal Aviation Regulations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

ATP, Type Rating in the aircraft in which he/she will instruct, Instrument Rating.

TRAVEL

Will be required to travel on occassion.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
