Discover Impactful Work:

  • This position will be based at the Thermo Fisher facility in Fremont, CA. This will be a hybrid role, providing service coverage in the western region, and support for the Fremont based service operations team.
A Day in the Life:
  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and verification of clinical and discrete chemistry analyzers in accordance with instrument/product manufacturers specifications.
  • Coverage will include analyzers assigned/or scheduled for PM/Service within the Western Region, Demo Units in house/remote, and systems in the Fremont based instrument lab.
  • Provide effective, timely communication and negotiation scheduling with the customer, partner.
  • Ensure effective and timely service and appropriate documentation is recorded through required processes.
  • Knowledgeable of safe operations and maintenance of the analyzers.
  • Maximize analyzer uptime and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Operations Support Specialist:
  • Manages the Field Service Engineers tools/calibration program.
  • Manages spare parts warranties and RMAs to the manufacturers.
  • Manages spare parts life cycle activities, in coordination with technical and marketing stakeholders, including associated processes (PCOs, DCOs and ECOs)
  • Works with Field Service Manager, Buyers/Purchasing team, to monitor spare parts inventory, to ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Back up Service Support Specialist (
    • Service Contracts
    • Setting up new accounts
    • Managing activities involving field service/SMX.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Instrumentation, military experience in a technical field or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience as a Field Service Engineer.
  • Effective communication skills and establishing good customer rapport are essential.
  • Proven ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Must have ability to work independently and have good organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Computer proficient/strong skills using MS Office, and related software tools.
  • Must be available to travel overnight up to 35-40% within the territory or other areas as required.
Essential Functions and Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs with assistance on occasion.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 25-30 lbs continuously throughout the day.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach daily in a service function.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $43.70-$65.55.
