Position Summary

The Sturm College of Law seeks to hire a talented and dedicated individual to serve as its Externship and Public Service Program Coordinator, on either a full- or part-time basis. Reporting directly to the faculty Director of Externships and Social Justice Initiatives, the successful candidate will manage all operational and administrative aspects of the Externship and Public Service Programs. In these capacities, the individual will serve as the initial point of contact for students, engage with externship supervisors, compile and analyze data relating to externship placements, and assist with the organization and marketing of programmatic events.

Essential Functions

  • Market the Externship and Public Service Programs internally (to law students) and externally (to current and potential partners).
  • Build and foster relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners.
  • Provide timely and robust support to students through all phases of the registration and placement processes.
  • Communicate with students, supervisors, and other internal and external entities to ensure that programmatic requirements are met, including requisite hours and credits.
  • Manage technology systems designed to track placements, student and supervisor feedback, student experiential reflections, and other program components.
  • Maintain files to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Execute and comply with expense, procurement, and reimbursement procedures.
  • Support the faculty Director of the Externship and Public Service Programs, as well as associated externship faculty.
  • Compile and analyze data to support programmatic decisions.
  • Create and implement administrative procedures to ensure consistency in office-related operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with diverse individuals, groups, and communities
  • Interest in working directly with law students in a staff role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a higher education setting

Work Schedule
For full-time employment, normal hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. For part-time employment, days and hours would be determined in consultation with the faculty Director of the Externship and Public Service Programs, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for this position is $20.43 - $25.54.

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
