Position Purpose: The Environmental Program Leader will provide leadership in the development and deployment of the corporation's air emissions control and chemical management programs in support of the company's sustainability objectives, compliance obligations and capability-building needs. Key objectives of the role will be to (1) conduct chemical risk and hazard assessments related to chemicals of potential concern and design appropriate mitigation and management strategies and plans, and (2) provide subject matter expertise related to air emission, emissions controls and permitting requirements. This role will also get exposure to other environmental and climate/greenhouse gas emissions reduction programs as flow to work priorities require.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Leads development of air pollution control and chemical technical standards and coordinates deployment.
  • Provides technical support across the enterprise for air pollution control and chemical management issues and problem-solving; identifies efficient and effective solutions.
  • Provides operational leadership to K-C's overall program to manage materials/chemicals of concern, including supporting chemical hazard and environmental impact assessment.
  • Shares leading practices across the company's global manufacturing facilities.
  • Works with multi-functional stakeholders, including corporate, functional, and facility team members across the global supply chain to enable effective execution.
  • Identifies, communicates and supports compliance processes related to existing and/or changes in national and local environmental legislation and regulations related to air emissions and chemicals management.
  • Manages content and communications via SharePoint and MS Teams digital systems. Leverages data systems and analytics to inform progress and priorities.
  • Builds talent and capabilities across the network to amplify impact.
  • Coordinates environmental shared planning to define annual and 3-year revolving action plans, aligning annual goals and tactics required to achieve objectives
  • Works cross-functionally, across a highly matrixed environment, using leadership, influence, and business acumen to evaluate risk, identify barriers, drive continuous improvement, and adhere to high ethical standards in the creation and execution of compliance programs. Collaborates with internal functions including Government Relations, Global Risk Management, Compliance and Ethics, Supply Chain and Legal to align on strategic direction.
  • Fosters relationships with external groups as needed in order to stay abreast of policy and regulatory developments and to monitor and align with leading practices in environment and sustainability risk and compliance management.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel up to 25% of the work time. Travel may also include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations.
  • Role is based at the Roswell Innovation Center K-C location in Roswell, Georgia or other approved K-C North American locations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental engineering, compliance or related fields with a strong preference for technical consulting or experience in air emissions, chemical compliance and analyzing and evaluating processes and assessing environmental impact.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting in an EHS or operations role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global regulations related to environment and sustainability, particularly those associated with K-C's product categories, including sourcing, manufacturing, and disposal.
  • Working knowledge and passion for sustainability/ sustainable development.
  • Strong business acumen, influence, and change management expertise.
  • Excellent cultural awareness and ability to work with colleagues at all levels of the organization and in a variety of countries and time zones.
  • Advanced degree in environmental management or sustainability.
  • Strong digital capabilities (e.g., data management, analytics, workflow management).
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment.
