Responsible to support established safety culture and ensure a consistent approach to environmental, health and safety programs across the entire business, while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, direct, and implement organization wide safety programs and policies that create a safety culture
  • Conduct organization-wide training for managers, supervisors, and team members for all work site safety practices, including forklift certification. Provide informational safety collateral and programs to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent hazardous conditions
  • Audit facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Participate or lead in the investigation of all recordable accidents and injuries as well as preparing any materials or evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations
  • Ensure safety files, records, and award programs are accurate

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field
  • 3 years of safety related experience dealing with multiple sites and multiple states/provinces
  • Environmental skills experience in arc flash, spill prevention, Lockout /Tagout (LOTO), confined space, universal waste, etc
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Capable of becoming certified to operate all the equipment used in the warehouse
  • Ability to work in temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius in cold storage sites or up to 100 Fahrenheit/37 Celsius in dry storage sites while wearing company provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear
  • Must be comfortable with various noise levels, at times, can be loud
