Engineering Technician

Hypertherm's Test and Automation Team is seeking a talented, team-oriented individual to join our team as an Engineering Technician. In this role, you will work under the direction of engineers or other senior personnel, performing tasks including building/assembling, wiring, implementing, and maintaining automated machines and fixtures that assemble and verify Hypertherm products. You will also support manufacturing with timely, cost effective, and lean assembly and verification solutions.

If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, here are some additional ways you will make an impact as an Engineering Technician
  • Build, assemble, and modify machines and fixtures for manufacturing required by ECO's (engineering Change Orders) and NPI (New Product Introduction). To construct automated systems for the manufacturing floor to assemble and verify product and operation.
  • Builds systems and provides training for systems that assemble and verify products; repairs and maintains existing assembly equipment and fixtures along with the associated procedures and documentation.
  • Performs simple changes to Solid Works models and wiring diagrams as needed during building or updating equipment.
  • Writes new or modifies existing procedures as required by ECO's and NPI to be used by the individuals on the assembly or test areas on the manufacturing floor.
  • Documents fixture designs and changes when engineering designs a product change, working collaboratively with the engineers to leverage use of existing automation equipment in a cost-effective manner.
  • Able to use hand, electric, and machine tools to aid in the building of complex assembly equipment and control panels with expert knowledge of reading mechanical and electrical prints, often generating these same to support gaps in project documentation.
  • Able to wire control panels from scratch with the understanding of wire sizing, color selection and standard wiring procedures and techniques.
Who you are and the experience you bring:
  • ASEE, 2-year technical degree or equivalent
  • 3-6 years of related experience
  • Ability to use test equipment such as meters, power supplies and analyzers etc.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft office suite with basic understanding of common software tools for team communication and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, able to dig into root cause.
  • Skilled in mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to understand and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, bill of materials, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Understanding of basic automation equipment and processes.
  • Strong communication skills
Preferred experience that differentiates you:
  • Prior Experience in machine assembly and wiring

Location: West Lebanon, NH, 20 Airpark Rd., some travel to other Hypertherm Upper Valley facilities.
