The Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
The SSN(X) Engineering and Design Team is looking for a strong engineering technician to support the development of the next generation fast attack submarine, SSN(X). This is an opportunity to get involved at the beginning of a new design and have influence over what will become the Navy's premier attack submarine platform.
The SSN(X) platform will maximize operational availability through a culture that stresses the importance of designing for reliability, sustainability, and maintainability. The applicant will be a crucial member of a team to execute the strategy to change the design process and mentality allowing for system and component changes to improve operational availability. The program will also be evaluating the industrial base for development opportunities to prepare it for future design and production. Understanding the current state of the supply base will facilitate the development of action plans to bolster the supply base including the development of new suppliers and implementing innovative manufacturing strategies.
Must Have
Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
