Shift:

Full Time (40 hours)

Day Shift; 7:30am-4:00pm; monthly requirement to work off-shift hours or weekends

Non- Exempt;

Position Summary:

Investigates building systems and documents operational data. Prepares recommendations for system improvements, maintenance programs and evaluations. This work is performed under the general supervision of the Engineering Project Manager and under the technical oversight of engineers.

The Technician will verify Airflow and Water Flow conditions in mechanical equipment serving Clinical and Lab areas to ensure compliance with standards. The technician will re-balance flows to meet the requirements and will document the conditions in formal reports.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required. AA degree preferred

Licensure/Certification:

Required Work Experience:

10 years of experience. 5 years' experience in the building automation trade is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work off shift to meet hospital requirements
    • Works with the Building Automation System (BAS) team to address Mechanical and Electronic corrections and modifications to the Hospital HVAC system. Monitors the BAS front end to search for anomalies in temperature, humidity, and pressure control in buildings. Creates trending records to analyze data and optimize performance.
    • Modifies programming as required to suit occupant needs. Commissions new additions to ensure adherence to specifications and to test functionality.
    • A working knowledge of Mechanical and HVAC systems is a requirement.
    • Investigates building systems and documents operational data. Prepares recommendations for system improvements, maintenance programs and evaluations. Aids the onsite building operations team in the daily trouble-shooting and repairs of mechanical systems, especially the Building Automation System (BAS). This work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering Operations, under the technical oversight of the Senior Engineering Project manager, and the daily oversight of the hospital Maintenance Manager
    • The candidate for this position must have 10 years of experience in the Building Automation Trade. Completion of a trade apprenticeship program is preferred. The position requires some occasional off-shift work to meet the hospital needs. Knowledge of DDC systems is required.
    • Works in a normal office environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
    • May be exposed to construction hazards.
    • May spend extended periods of time working at computer station.
    • May spend time in shop and mechanical area environments with exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise and fumes.
    • May work outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures & other weather conditions.
    • Work may require the ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
    • May get into/work within confined spaces and in awkward positions.
    • May work at heights of up to 30 feet above surface using ladders, lifts and equipment.
    • Work may require ability to load/unload and transport/position tools, equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.(this flexible “weight” condition does not prescribe “lifting” as a mechanism for moving equipment; therefore, it permits the supervisor/employee to determine the methodology and reasonable accommodations for “moving” such weight; otherwise, you must make clear that there is no other mechanism - & no reasonable accommodations - for “moving” the weight)
    • Work may involve possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents has little likelihood of harm when established health precautions are followed.
    • Work may require the use of protective safety devices including, but not limited to, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and infection prevention clothing/apparatus, back belt.
    • Work requires attention to detail
    • Work requires visual and auditory acuity.
