Responsibilities
The GI Lab Technician 2 assists the nurses and physicians in providing care for the endoscopy patient and iscompetent in ERCP, EUS and Wall Stint placement. The technician also supports the area with duties that include,but are not limited to preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environmentincluding gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as surgical assistant. The job also includestransportation of patients and equipment, stocking/maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes andtheir accessories contributing to the daily functions of the unit. Collaboration with all members of the Wellstar healthcare team. Must be proficient with all cases done in GI lab and have at least (2-3) years of acute GI Lab experience.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: High school graduate or GED.
Required Minimum Certification: SGNA certification required, or must be completed within 6 months. BLS
Required Minimum Experience: (2-3) year's acute Endoscopy experience required. Successful completion of on thejob training with documentation of orientation and all competencies met including assisting competency in ERCP andEUS, and Wall Stent Placement (specific competencies determined by facility of employment)
Required Minimum Skills:Ability to read, write and speak the English language; Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; BCLS required.Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care; Competency in all aspects of GIprocedures, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection; Ability to delegate to other team membersas required; Ability to multi-task is essential: Ability to function in stressful and emergent situations essential; Strongdetail orientation required; Proficiency in all GI procedures required, with emphasis on EUS and ERCP cases. Abilityto function as preceptor to other GI techs required. Computer skills may be required; Emergency call coveragerequired.
