Job Description

The Electronic Engineer is responsible for maintaining, testing, repairing, and install electronic equipment and associated components using product specifications and standard diagnostic procedures. Equipment includes office-assisted remote services systems, acoustic navigation systems, surface navigation systems (DGPS), and computer systems with peripherals and associated software.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine and preventative maintenance of field equipment in accordance with existing maintenance procedures.
  • Installs and supports standard PC images and related standard image software.
  • Installs and tests software upgrades.
  • Trains users on hardware and software usage when appropriate.
  • Communicate with other departments/divisions/service lines to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems.
  • Repairs field equipment, according to repair procedures, to chip level where possible.
  • Implements engineering changes on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots problems on-site in the field or via phone.
  • Serves as technical liaison with project managers, field crews, clients, and other offices during a project from mobilization to demobilization.
  • Prepares and tests equipment for projects; identifies shortfalls in equipment levels.
  • Drives company vehicles to docks and heliports; loads and unloads equipment.
  • Installs equipment onto clients' vessels including hardware, firmware, and software, and interfaces to client-owned equipment.
  • Performs field duties with survey staff when required.
  • Maintains and develops Quality Assurance procedures relating to engineering tasks and participates in the company's safety program.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties or completes special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record, TWIC, PEC safety, and water survival certifications.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Computer Engineer or related field from four-year college or university.
  • Have 5 years or more experience in electronic repair, including PC diagnostics software and tools, and understanding of serial interface protocols is preferred.
  • Some travel is required, Foreign/Offshore/Vessel assignments are possible.
  • Offshore experience a plus.
  • Mechanically inclined with possible design experience a plus.
