PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The purpose of an Electrical Technician is to perform a variety of duties in and around the Health System facilities and properties to operate, maintain, and repair equipment and physical structures under the direction of the Manager of Facility Services or his designee.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duty 1: Adheres to BVHS's policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Duty 2: Develops processes and procedures to ensure continual delivery of electrical services to BVHS.
  • Duty 3: Ability to service / maintain electrical equipment but not limited to the following: • Install / maintain high voltage circuits • Install / maintain low voltage circuits • Working knowledge of all types of electrical motors • Able to size wire and connectors • Maintain 480 volt emergency switch gear • Oversee and install various electrical components • Working knowledge of National Electric Code • Understanding and applying computerized building monitoring systems • Small appliance repair • Operate tools specifically used in electrical field. • All other related systems as required
  • Duty 4: Achieves two competency evaluations from Facility Services Associates to enhance the development of qualified individuals.
  • Duty 5: Ensures all Facility Services Associates are trained on new electrical equipment or changes in procedures.
  • Duty 6: Performs plumbing, electrical, and mechanical duties as required.
  • Duty 7: Maintains communication systems as required.
  • Duty 8: Assesses and maintains architectural structure of the hospital.
  • Duty 9: Ensures a safe and comfortable environment for patient, staff and visitors.
  • Duty10: Accepts and responds to emergencies, codes, fire, and disasters.
  • Duty 11: Performs related accountabilities responsibilities as required or directed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school education with a minimum of 5 consecutive years' experience in related field required.
  • Holds a State of Ohio Fire License or will achieve fire license. Maintains skill level with appropriate training and uses various methods to ensure continual improvement.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow instruction manuals, including drawings and parts lists.
  • General knowledge of HVAC systems and fire alarm systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of hand/power tools and testing instruments.
  • High Pressure Boiler Operator's license required only if designated to be back up boiler operator.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment, electricity and plumbing plus specialized knowledge of carpentry, refrigeration and painting as required.
  • May be required to work any shift, fixed or rotated and days off may be fixed or rotated.
  • A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and standing. The individual must be able to lift up to seventy-five pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The associate must have appropriate eye-hand coordination. This associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must have appropriate verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.
