Dow has an opening for a Demolition & Construction EHS&S Technologist with a preferred location of Freeport, TX. Other locations may be considered (Houston area or Plaquemine). This role is responsible for daily EHS&S activities and performance for large construction projects and global demolition projects. The Demolition & Construction EHS&S Technologist will report to the Field Execution Technology Group Director within the TES Tech Center. The Technologist role is intended to be a hybrid role splitting time between demolition projects, large construction projects, and Tech Center initiatives based on current needs.

This role also shares responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Provides hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for global demolition activities and large construction projects. Requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. May act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Acts as the focal point for specific demolition and project EHS&S disciplines (i.e. Environmental, IH, Personal Safety, Process Safety etc.)

  • Audit contractor performance against the program expectations and provide opportunity feedback to contractors.

  • Coordinate and optimize EHS&S programs across active projects.

  • Participate and lead incident investigations and corrective action process.

  • Initiates and supports MOC for EHS&S changes as necessary.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline EHS&S resources and work processes.

  • Trends EHS&S reporting information (i.e. Safety Observations, BBP, Near Miss).

  • Coach and train contractor employees as necessary to meet the expectations of the Demolition and Construction EHS&S program.

  • Conduct Zero Day Safety Expectations to Demolition contractor employees prior to start of Global Demolition managed demolition projects.

  • Reviews and up-dates Global Demolition Processes assigned to EHS&S annually and maintains assigned document updates in WEBEDMS

  • Collects man hours for all demolition projects on a quarterly basis and inputs in data base.

  • Can perform the Auditor role for Pre-Demolition Audit, Demolition in Progress Audit and Project Close Out.

  • Responsible for Creation and Maintenance of data for bidding Demo Jobs

  • Review Experience Matrix for Compliance with Global Demo requirements on Global Demo Managed Jobs

  • Perform Safety Audits on location for large Construction & Demolition projects in progress

  • Focal Point for understanding site EHS&S requirements & coordinating with site EHS&S to meet local requirements

  • Assess EHS&S Staffing for Large Construction Projects and Demolition Projects

  • Administrator for the GF/BF EHS&S SharePoint content and ensure access and use by our contractors.

  • Determine Greenfield & Brownfield applicability and lead implementation of the GF/BF Large Project EHS&S Management System

  • Partners with Regional Construction EHS&S Managers for Large Project & Demolition Support in their respective regions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma/GED

  • A minimum of 5 years of EH&S experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

  • Travel Requirements: Occasional significant domestic travel and infrequent international travel to support large construction & demolition projects.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree

  • Certified Asbestos Professional

  • Certified Safety Professional
