Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Domestic Violence Advocate in the Valley Human Services program at Behavioral Health Network!

Domestic Violence Advocates provide short term victim support and crisis intervention, offering problem solving and referrals to community services for survivors of domestic violence. Domestic Violence Advocates offer education about the dynamics of abuse, provide safety planning and risk assessment, and give limited support at police stations and E.D. at local area hospitals. As an extension of the community response to domestic violence in local communities, the On-Call Domestic Violence Advocate will work after traditional business hours and weekends with first responders from area police departments.

BHN Domestic Violence Services working in partnership with the Northwestern District Attorney's office is currently looking for Advocates to work with the Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP)

Advocates working in this program are specially trained for this position. They are immediately available to respond following a domestic violence incident. Police officers contact the on-call advocate who then contacts the victim. The advocate's role is to offer the victim immediate support, information regarding her/his options and referrals for counseling, shelter and/or legal advocacy.

Domestic Violence Advocates at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or two or more years working in the social services field with survivors of domestic or sexual violence.
  • Minimum 30 hours of Domestic Violence Advocacy/ Sexual Assault training.
  • Valid driver\'s license.
