NASCAR is hiring for a Director, Social Media. This person manages the league's social media strategy and presence through planning, execution, and collaboration; develops and maintains the league's voice on social media; and oversees major programs, campaigns and content development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and develop growth opportunities for a best-in-class team overseeing the company's social media platforms.
  • Lead channel-specific content development to maximize consumption and engagement across platforms for casual and avid fans alike.
  • Evaluate and bring perspective to new social media technologies and present pros/cons of each in contributing to the digital platform's overall objectives and revenue potential.
  • Help manage relationships with each of the major social platforms to leverage new technologies, collaborate on content development, and maximize reach.
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to align business objectives and execution, including Communications, Brand Marketing, Industry Services, Competition, The NASCAR Foundation, Licensing, and others
  • Ideate, develop, manage, and execute social media programs and campaigns that help the company meet and succeed various business goals and objectives.
  • Assist with driving value for official partners, utilizing social media to advance partners' business with focus on the industry marketing calendar.
  • Develop best practice case studies to share with industry shareholders (teams, tracks, drivers), clearly outlining how best to leverage social media within sport's ecosystem.
  • Closely track emerging trends, tools, platforms in social / digital
  • Leverage social media analytics to generate more impactful social campaigns and content.
  • Analyze topics and themes in social and traditional media to provide insight.
  • Train and educate industry colleagues on social media best practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of, conduct regular research on, and monitor other sites (both sport and non-sport) for latest online innovations and technology.
  • Work with partners to develop branded content that can help deliver value across all mediums with a focus on social.
  • Advanced working knowledge of all primary social media channels with an eye towards emerging trends and platforms
  • Proven experience developing strategy and day-to-day management of communication activities and plans.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior level executives.
Travel: 10%, including weekends

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four (4) year college or university and a minimum of eight (8) years of current experience in social media, engagement, and partner management; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient on all company provided hardware and software. Knowledge of social media content management and reporting platforms. Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Able to work a non-traditional work week, including nights and weekends.

Excellent writing skills and social media acumen

Ability and experience managing entry to mid-level employees.

Ability to lead and utilize strong cross-functional and inter-departmental integration and planning skills.
