Director, Proposal Strategy & Staff (Dir Proposal Mgmt)

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

The Director, Proposal Strategy & Staff (Dir Proposal Mgmt) is responsible for management of a mid-sized team of proposal managers/writers in support of the development and alignment of multi-channel, multi-line distribution strategies for proposals (new and existing business) and to drive short- and long-term profitable growth on a national basis.

How you will make an impact:

  • Coordinates the growth and development of proposal staff.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of existing multi-line work streams and recommends changes to maximize effectiveness and drive sales.
  • Directs and coordinates intake and assignment of proposal staff to drive sales.
  • Evaluates proposal processes and recommends design changes, training and development to drive new sales and the retention of existing business.
  • Develops key metrics to track and evaluate proposal and sales results against targets, the effectiveness of existing proposal processes and the alignment of proposal staff with market opportunities.
  • Leads the activities, assignment and training of proposal and contracted staff performing related functions.
  • Directs the workflow and performance of subordinates.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provides quality control services by monitoring work results of direct reports.
  • Performs audits to monitor efficiency and compliance with policies.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
  • 7 years of experience in health insurance industry in proposals, strategic planning and business development strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a team leader strongly preferred.
  • Proven win rate with large complex bid responses preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
  • APMP Foundation certification or equivalent professional certifications preferred.
