Role Description:

The Director, Oncology Marketing is accountable for the breast cancer indication marketing in the US, in collaboration with the Merck team. As the flagship brand in the DNA Damage Response Franchise, this is a key medicine in the AstraZeneca oncology portfolio; the breast cancer indication represents a significant commercial opportunity in an area of high unmet medical need. You will be charged with developing and implementing a robust commercial strategy and collaborating effectively with key cross-functional partners and the Merck team. Additionally, you will be a key member of the leadership team and play an important role in shaping the overall strategy and culture for the franchise.

This position will report directly into the Senior Director, Brand Strategy and Marketing, and will work in close partnership with other members of the cross-functional team and with the Merck team. This position is based at our Gaithersburg, MD campus (Washington DC Metro area), and will work predominantly on site. Gaithersburg, MD is one of over 400 sites here at AstraZeneca, providing a collaborative environment where everyone feels comfortable and able to be themselves, which is at the core of AstraZeneca's priorities. Key Accountabilities:

  • Develops, evaluates and evolves the brand strategy for breast cancer, including building a brand strategy plan and competitive readiness plans
  • Collaborates closely and provides direction to cross-functional groups (e.g. Insights, Access, Medical, Sales) for the development and implementation of both strategic and operational plans
  • Accountable for engaging with the Global Breast Cancer team to ensure alignment and share findings across markets
  • Monitors brand performance and provide input into forecasting; leads input into business reviews
  • Develops and delivers key brand presentations in Breast Cancer to leadership and to the field organization
  • Develops and leads Breast cancer commercial budget
  • Leads engagement and collaboration with Merck on Breast cancer strategy and operational planning
  • Leads, coaches, and develops team of pharmaceutical marketing professionals

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • 8+ years' experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with experience in one or more of the following: managed markets, brand marketing, sales, market research/analytics, strategic planning
  • Prior in-line HCP marketing experience

Preferred qualifications
  • MBA in relevant field
  • Oncology or specialty care experience highly preferred
  • Understanding of U.S. Oncology landscape including Community oncology and Hospital oncology dynamics, GPOs, Payer landscape, Specialty Pharmacy stakeholders
  • In-depth Marketing experience (developing brand strategy, performing positioning, messaging, segmentation, targeting, managing ad agency, providing direction on annual budget planning)
  • Experience across multiple promotional channels (Personal, Non-Personal and Digital, Patient marketing)
  • Launch experience
  • Management experience
  • Experience working in commercial alliance/partnership environment

  • Ability to lead complex projects
