Description: Our client is currently seeking a Director of Underwriting & Credit

This position manages the day-to-day operations of a team of Underwriters which could include staff working

remotely and in varying geographic areas.

• Supervises and reviews Underwriter's work.

• Provide leadership, direction, or training to team members and communicate performance feedback.

• Ensure loans are underwritten to guidelines and compliant with all state/federal laws and lending regulations.

• Work closely with our Underwriters, Branch Managers and Loan Officers to identify potential

solutions/alternatives for difficult/denied loans.

• Participates with senior management in department and companywide initiatives related to underwriting

procedures and strategies.

• Manage hiring, orientation and training of department personnel.

• Proficient with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA and Non-Agency Jumbo guidelines.

• Maintain and communicate knowledge of underwriting guidelines and stay current with department

requirements.

• Measure all mortgage loan submissions for underwriting decisions based on company quality control plans and

investor/regulatory compliance.

• Effectively communicate with Sales, Underwriters and Processors the correct solutions to program guidelines

and borrower qualification.

• Communicate effectively with internal staff to maintain high level of customer service.

• Create department metrics to monitor performance.

• Work closely with QC department to identify root cause and training opportunities related to the department.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience plus ten or more years of mortgage underwriting and

management experience.

• Experience with Encompass required

• Team oriented, adaptable, dependable, with a strong work ethic
