We're focused on the potential of science to address the unmet needs of patients around the world. We commit to those areas where we can really change the course of medicine and bring new and innovative ideas to life.

As Director of Strategy, Lung Franchise, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.

This position is based at our Gaithersburg, MD campus (Washington DC Metro area), and will work predominantly on site. Gaithersburg, MD is one of over 400 sites here at AstraZeneca, providing a collaborative environment where everyone feels comfortable and able to be themselves, which is at the core of AstraZeneca's priorities. The Gaithersburg site offers various amenities to help boost efficiency and help keep our employees happy and healthy. This includes a fitness center, employee healthcare clinic, electric vehicle charging stations, dry cleaning, a full-service cafeteria, state-of-the-art on-campus Daycare facility, copy center, game rooms, community garden and more! This is where you'll find newly-designed, activity-based workspaces to suit a variety of working styles while strengthening collaboration between teams. This modern and vibrant scientific campus is the home of the Oncology Business Unit in the US.

As the Director of Strategy, Lung Franchise, you will play a key role in defining our commercial leadership opportunity in Lung Cancer by aligning strategic and execution efforts across multiple assets to measure and achieve our bold ambition. This role truly brings together all elements being worked on by various brand teams. These will include view of promotional priorities by stakeholder and segments; FSIP weights and planning across brands/teams; Lung Cancer above brand initiatives etc.

You will partner across multiple franchises and cross-functional teams to define tumor-level priorities, facilitate decision-making, and ensure coordinated US customer engagement into broader initiatives. In addition, you will play a key role in findinopportunities to operate at an above-brand tumor level and will work closely with the CDS head and marketing leaders to implement such recommendations.

You will also be responsible to shape a tumor-level lung cancer vision and strategic plan for the US team, in partnership with the marketing, global and medical teams - aligning strategy and execution at the indication level to enhancing patient identification at the population level. Converting this strategy into operational levels will require alignment of HCP Behaviors/Beliefs/Trends across tumor type to prioritize and innovatively approach Community Oncology differently.

Your scope will not only focus on the products currently promoted by the US lung cancer team, but include future assets as additional data readouts approach.

You will report directly into the US Lung Cancer Customer & Disease Strategy head and serve as a key member of the franchise leadership team.

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • At least 5 years of marketing, strategy, or related (US and/or global)
  • Able to demonstrate agility to create, identify and quantify trends
  • Exhibit high capability at working collaboratively, thinking strategically
  • Comprehensive understanding of US market and roles of customer facing teams

Preferred:
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MBA, MD) in relevant field
  • Experience in US marketing or strategy within Oncology
  • Experience in Lung Cancer
