Director, Program Management

Brentwood, TN

The Director of Program Management provides strategic direction for a department of Program and Project Managers responsible for full life cycle technical projects. This position leads the development, evolution, and enhancement of primary project management processes such as road map updates/reporting, new project requests, custom requests, priority shifts, and related activities as the business grows and evolves. The position also leads the development and evolution of tools and processes to support the project management activities involving leveraging resources outside the department, defining tool operation and complexity, and/or other related activities to foster efficiencies, best practices, and growth. Additionally, this position provides Engineering Managers with meaningful data, tools, and communications to foster greater insight into forecasting resource availability and understanding project commitments and expectations. Also, the position forms and maintains professional relationships with Product, Engineering, and various levels of management (senior, executive, etc.) such that the project management function brings focus, partnership, and a sense of urgency which ultimately results in delivery in line with strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* 12+ years of IT PMO experience
* 5+ years of IT PMO management experience
* Bachelor's degree in technology, finance, business, or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred

. CMMI certification a PLUS!
* Project governance certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) required

* Relationship management.

* Advanced organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and advanced delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
* Excellent problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

*Manage a team of 18 project managers and business analysts

*Articulate the strategy into objectives and goals that are meaningful and measurable.
* Advise senior management on the 'do-ability' of strategic objectives.
Define measurement metrics, identify criteria for success or failure that monitor strategic goal utilization.
* Ensure metrics are relevant to the organizational strategy and objectives.
Develop new metrics when appropriate, delete or change metrics that are no longer relevant or no longer support the organization strategic objectives.
* Ensure metrics do not overwhelm stakeholders to ensure active tracking adoption.

* Recommend the selection, termination, or initiation of components to ensure the portfolio remains aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
* Perform portfolio governance
* Manage portfolio risk
* Manage portfolio stakeholders and communications
* Provide project and program reporting

* Collaborate with senior management to identify, plan, develop, communicate, and implement department strategy, goals, and objectives for the project/program management groups that complement and support the business model and engineering objectives.
* Work with senior management to define and drive measurements/metrics for the department.
* Contribute to the reforecast of financial budget process as it relates to the P&L and support annual planning and forecasting exercises in alignment with product strategy.
* Provide Engineering Managers with meaningful data, tools, and communications to foster greater insight into forecasting resource availability and understanding project commitments and expectations.
* Oversee internal customer messaging and general management of associated product road maps in alignment with Product Management priorities.
* Represent Engineering Project Management in cross-functional teams as an SME in their respective portfolio. Oversee Project Managers with moderate to complex projects.
