Director, Medical Informatics

The Director of Medical Informatics leads Journi's Scientific & Analytics Support, Innovation, and Science functions. This role will be responsible for the vision, strategy, and deployment oversight of clinical and analytics information system. They will collaborate with other health care and information technology leaders across Journi and Cambia to analyze, design, implement and evaluate information and communication systems that enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve patient care, ease the patient experience navigating the healthcare system, and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship. Clinical Informaticians use their knowledge of patient care and episodes of care combined with their understanding of informatics concepts, methods, and tools to: assess information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients; characterize, evaluate, and refine clinical processes; develop, implement, and refine clinical decision support systems; and lead or participate in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems. They will provide broad support to Journi's efforts to develop and use data science and analytics to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and value of existing programs and new business opportunities.

General Functions and Outcomes:

• As a member of the Leadership Team, participates in strategic planning and helps to integrate science and analytics into overall business plans and operations
• Work collaboratively with organizational leaders to develop, implement and evaluate data science/analytics initiatives and programs for the organization
• Manage, mentor, and train current and future staff in conducting analytics, science, and innovation efforts for the organization
• Direct and oversee development of analytics, actionable information, tools and programs needed to optimize performance on offerings
• Works with leadership team to identify key market drivers and develop plans and strategies to address trends and future business development efforts
• Routinely analyze health ecosystem use of current and emerging technology (e.g., ML/AI) and evaluate their value for potential organizational use
• Directs the clinical-based activities and serves as the representative of the organization in matters that involve medical analytic judgment and clinical integrity
• Serves as a clinical resource for organizational projects and contracts, providing guidance and direction to ensure that all requirements are met and that innovative concepts are utilized
• Provide support for corporate and project activities that are highly dependent on the accurate communication of clinical or scientific data
• Represent Journi as the senior clinical spokesperson and representative to scientific, business, government groups/agencies, and other external stakeholders
• Contribute to and review responses to key Request for Proposals (RFPs). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure sound science and evidence-based methodology is employed in organizational proposal strategies and documentation
• Review clinical and scientific literature in support of updating of key policy/programmatic positions on key topics for Journi.

Minimum Requirements:

• Expert knowledge, insight and ability to successfully anticipate and respond to trends, key initiatives and programs in the evolving healthcare informatics field
• Demonstrated experience conceiving, building and leading successful analytics programs utilizing key technologies (e.g., ML/AI) within healthcare organizations
• Demonstrated results-driven management, leadership and executive capabilities
• Ability to lead organizational change by focusing on driving value, pursuing innovation, overcoming resistance, and being a catalyst for effective change
• Excellent strategic planning skills and effective in leading multidisciplinary teams in the execution of strategic initiatives
• Strong relationships with leaders and public/private organizations in the healthcare informatics field
• Ability to translate practical experiences and realities of medical practice into opportunity and vision for the future
• Strategic and critical thinking skillset with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Excellent speaking/writing communication skills and demonstrated expertise in presenting and discussing clinical/scientific information with a broad set of stakeholders/audiences
• The ability to articulate and represent Journi to executive leaders across the organization, external stakeholders, and potential customers/key business partner

The Director of Medical Informatics would have a Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree). Current, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in at least one US state or territory. Board certified physician. Additional formal training in data science/analytic fields strongly preferred. Fifteen (15) years' experience in the healthcare field, including 5-10+ years specifically focused on clinical informatics/analytics direction and management within health agencies/organizations. At least ten (10) years of direct supervisory/management experience.
