Job Summary
The Director, Global Test Engineering is a core member of the New Product Development Introduction (NPDI) process. In this role, the Global Test Leader will collaborate with the global R&D teams to develop the overall product testing methodology to ensure maximum coverage and to reduce critical to quality gaps within the manufacturing process. The Director, Global Test Engineering will accomplish this by leading a global team of Automated Test Engineers as they are assigned to NPDI programs within Vertiv's Integrated Rack Systems line of business. Additionally, the Global Test Leader will drive the test architecture development structure - required tasks, inputs, outputs, test equipment supplier relationships, capex budgets & line of business test strategy. This strategic role would also be involved in final test cycle time improvements and new testing technology introductions as it relates.
Responsibilities:
- Develop the overall product final test strategic direction, operational objectives and priorities for the automated test engineering team globally
- Develop test strategies, optimizations and design solutions that align with our industrial footprint and operations plan
- Baseline our current state global test architectures to develop the required product testing roadmaps by line of business
- Develop the process within the NPDI framework to include: test specification alignment, verification, validation, fixture assembly & program debugging
- Develop the PCBA & FG DFT requirements according the test strategy and other targets
- Determine data storage requirements & product serialization format requirements
- Continuous improvement of test cycle time, and determine risks/gaps in coverage as well as areas of improvement
- Determine final test equipment specifications, costs, and lead times - Manage required capital investment
- Lead the test coverage analysis within ATE group, identify, and follow up potential risk and issues with global team.
- Deliver manufacturer test instructions, ongoing maintenance requirements, and spare parts. Scope is inclusive of both internal Vertiv plants and contract manufacturers
- Build relationships with test equipment suppliers and look for areas of collaboration
- Provide related training to other ATE Engineer in different regions
Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum - 10-15 years in a global product test leadership position in related product field
- Global scope experience - multiple operations/facilities and product lines
- Industry product knowledge of data center infrastructure equipment: 1PH UPS, Rack PDU, Rack/Row Cooling, Thermal, etc.
- Knowledgeable in New Product Development Introduction framework
- Knowledgeable in Design for Manufacturing/ Design for Test
- Knowledgeable in electro/mechanical manufacturing (sheet metal, PCBA)
- Knowledgeable in MFG equipment system design & diagnostic experience, know product assembly process and MFG KPIs
- Knowledgeable of automation components, solution, and software, such as industrial PC, PLC, HMI, Lab-view, Vison inspection (camera), other instruments
- Knowledgeable of PCBA ICT, FCT test and equipment market
