Director First Year Experience

Job Duties:

The Director of the First Year Experience works with departments across campus to coordinate the operation of a dynamic First Year Experience program that includes both curricular and co-curricular components. The Director supervises RCC's peer mentor program, collaborates with the College Success Faculty Advisory Board to support RCC's gateway courses, spearheads the assessment of all FYE activities, and creates new programs focused on first-year student success and retention.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the faculty to support and innovate RCC's college success course.
  • Create and maintain an effective FYE with curricular and co-curricular components.
  • Coordinate First Year Experience assessments efforts.
  • Create new programs to support first-year student success (e.g. bridge programs)
  • Participate in relevant events (e.g. Open House and New Student Orientation)
  • Liase with local high schools to support recruitment efforts.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Master' Degree or high-level proficiency training and experience in lieu of degree. Five to seven years of experience working with college students and administering programs within the context of higher education. Experience teaching a college success course and supporting first-year students is preferred.

Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience
