Position Overview

The Home Improvement Practice at NPD is a fast growing, new business for NPD and we are using cutting edge data sources to enable the most well-known brands grow in the marketplace. Our team is seeking a Director to build our Home Improvement business and to work with manufacturers to help them succeed. This person will be responsible for building senior level relationships, independently managing projects/analysis through from start to finish, attending and contributing to client meetings, achieving revenue goals, and increasing NPD's value with our clients.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Become a trusted advisor with client contacts and an expert in client business initiatives and strategies
  • Excellent analytic skills, with the ability to transform large data sets into compelling solutions to the clients' unique business issues; creative problem solving skills and creative analytics are a necessity
  • Accurately interpreting data and clearly articulating findings and insights to both internal and external audiences in written and verbal formats
  • Ability to proactively identify business opportunities and be prepared to learn and work across multiple data sets and departments
  • Effectively communicate with clients and internal constituents on a regular basis, both in person and through written word
  • Navigate the NPD organization by collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to leverage their expertise while providing the customer perspective
  • Recognize important trends that will affect clients. Communicates those trends so clients can better prepare to meet new challenges


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of experience in market research and/or consumer insights
  • Strong analysis and writing ability - digests diverse data sets into cohesive and succinct stories
  • Proven ability to quickly learn proprietary software/database applications
  • Strong Presentation skills and understanding of the selling process
  • Expert in all MS Office products- Excel, PowerPoint, Word
