Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director, Career & Technical Education & Professional Development provides visionary leadership, supervision, evaluation, and quality assurance for non-credit programs and Corporate College Professional Certification programs at multiple campuses. The position is accountable for the performance and results of significant programs in a large department resolving issues with department-wide impact. This position is responsible for oversight of non-credit workforce programs and classes using a profit center budget model. Makes decisions and supports students based on functional strategies and priorities. Responsible for managing the daily office operations for specific programs, including lab services, or auxiliary services, and management of resources. Oversees staff and includes adjuncts and full- and part-time instructors. Also coordinates the negotiation of contracts for use with off-site facilities and for the provision of non-credit workforce services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Provides leadership for program planning, development, implementation, organization and staff development, supervision, quality assurance, andevaluationPromote non-credit workforce and CE and programs to ensure strong student enrollment growth and stabilityCollaborate with area agencies, community-based organizations, and other partners to address and meet their needsAdvocate for and represent Corporate College Professional Certification and Continuing Education to the local community, college administration, faculty, and staff; promotes through presentations and ongoing contact with chambers, civic organizations, economic development entities, and community-based and state organizationsEvaluates facility, program, and curriculum to meet applicable standards and accreditations; supervises any necessary audits to maintain accreditations, programs, orgrantsOversees the department budgetAnalyzes statistical data for decision-makingProvide direction and support to multiple managers, specialists, advisors and other staff members across multiple campuses.Provide student's academic advising by phone or face to face as requiredWorks closely with Lone Star College marketing team to promoteprograms for CE at University Park and their associated centers as well as Corporate College Professional Development & Open Enrollment courses for non-credit and workforce coursesDevelops, implements, and supervises the delivery of student services in online or face-to-face programs; manages and maintains instructional labs and partners with job placement team to develop opportunities foremploymentServe as an effective team member on campus committees and councils, Workforce Council and curriculum teamsResponsible for other reasonable, related duties asassigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 3 years in a manager- or director-level position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in Energy, Manufacturing or Computer Information Technology
Salary

Hiring salary range is $72,821-$83,744

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
