The mission of the US Business Analytics team is to provide integrated, data-driven insights to elevate US Operations performance, enable better decision-making for US commercial colleagues, and enhance customer experience. The Director, Business Analytics is responsible for the continued development and deployment of a robust analytical strategy for US Operations to support this mission. The Director will manage a team of 12 - 15 data scientists, business analysts, and data engineers colleagues. He/she will also manage a team of contractors, scaling up and down based on project needs. This role reports into VP US Strategy, Digital and Analytics.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Understand USLT objectives and species strategic plans, and translate business needs into a strategic analytics and reporting program that is flexible to adapt to changing business conditions and robust enough to mature as technology changes or as Zoetis expands its core infrastructure
    • Conceptualize commercial priorities, frame into analytics problems, and design/architect solutions for the team to execute
  • Partner across the organization and develop collaborative relationships with colleagues in Marketing, Sales, Sales Operations, Customer Care, Tech & Digital, etc. Ensure open communication about the prioritization and sequencing of work, resourcing needs, measurement of accomplishments, and progress against stated milestones and goals
  • Lead the development of analytic capability and maturity within the organization to enable better business user solutions through better use of data; introduce innovative techniques and technologies that meets the US commercial analytics needs
  • Develop and lead a team of colleagues on career paths that are challenging, rewarding and complimentary to overall team and Zoetis objectives, including building new capabilities
  • Instill a high level of proactiveness amongst team that anticipates business need and solves challenges, presents opportunities and efficiencies

DESIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experienced leader with proven track record of cultivating high-performing teams
  • 10+ years' experience in analytical and decision support roles providing insights to senior commercial decision-makers. Relevant areas include Commercial Analytics, Business Intelligence, Field Force Effectiveness and/or Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Strong analytical mind and in-depth understanding of key business drivers
  • Ability to synthesize multiple inputs and to create relevant insights and recommendations that will support the US region's business objectives
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with Commercial Leadership at various levels of the organization, and with IT colleagues and external partners to deliver relevant solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying commercial priorities and then architecting, building and deploying data science models to create business value, preferably in sales and marketing applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with and effectively communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and manage through influence across a large, matrix organization
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a Champion for Business Analytics to articulate the value of the function in terms of business impact
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Agility, adaptability and strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Field Force Effectiveness is a plus
  • Strong analytical and business acumen; ability to translate mathematical models into business problems and vice versa

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to build effective and interactive dashboards
  • Ability to use core analytics methods in developing solutions (one or more of the following)
    • Statistics (t-tests, ANOVA) & design of experiments
    • Segmentation/clustering techniques
    • Predictive modelling: e.g. logistic regression, linear regression, network analysis,
    • Time series analysis: e.g. ARIMA, VAR, etc.
    • Machine Learning: e.g. Random Forest, neural networks
  • Familiarity with a broad base of analytics tools (one or more of the following):
    • Data Management: SQL and Alteryx
    • BI: Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server and Tableau Online
    • Programming/Scripting: Python or R
  • Extensive experience in applied analytics for business problem solving with strong project management skills (one or more of the following): Building analytical solutions for Pricing and promotional effectiveness, Loyalty program effectiveness, Customer segmentation and targeting, Salesforce allocation and effectiveness, Churn prevention
  • Experience and knowledge in data engineering

  • Position is based in Parsippany, NJ
  • Travel requirement: approx. 5%
