Job Summary:

The Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Oncology Alliance Project Manager will provides strategic planning and operational management oversight of alliance projects, activities, and budgets with alliance partner Astra Zeneca (AZ) based upon the established alliance operating model.

The GMA Oncology Alliance Project Manager will liaise and lead with cross-functional leaders, their teams and the strategic alliance partner to develop the model for the partnership and ensure appropriate governance is in place to assure the highest quality delivery of medical activities in a timely manner, while working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.

This person will be solely responsible for joint medical affairs related teams on behalf of DSI GMA Oncology and will be expected to work closely with alliance counterparts. This person will work alongside the DS Alliance Manager and DSI GMA Oncology Project Manager(s) assigned to those teams to create a holistic approach to project management for these teams.

The Alliance Project Manager further contributes to accelerating and optimizing the business via the following responsibilities/activities:

  • Facilitating key joint meetings (JMAT and Sub-Teams) together with alliance counterparts
  • Ensuring streamlined and efficient communication e.g. scheduling touch point based communication with key alliance stakeholders, shared information through participating to GMAT meetings, etc.
  • Work closely with DSI GMA Oncology Project Manager(s) to ensure budget accountability and transparency with alliance partners.
  • Tracking of activities in terms of timing, anticipated risk, and mitigation of issues/conflict resolutions with alliance counterparts as well as DS Alliance Manager(s)
  • Leading / contributing to process improvement initiatives
  • Encouraging overall operational excellence across all activities and projects
Responsibilities:

Alliance Management, Strategic Partnerships in Joint Medical Affairs Team ("JMAT") activities
  • In close collaboration with the GMA Oncology Franchise Heads and GMAT Lead(s), establish a strategic plan for monitoring alliance activities per the joint medical affairs plan and priorities (in collaboration with the GMA Oncology Project Manager).
  • Proactively lead to develop Joint Tactical Plan (JTP) with alliance partner to ensure delivery timeline and annual alliance planning process & associated documents, including proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders to manage plan development.
  • Facilitate the alliance projects and joint activities, including ensuring that the JMAT and Sub-Teams delivers projects and activities successfully and on a timely manner as per annual plan and objectives together with GMA Oncology Franchise Heads and GMA Team Lead(s).
  • Engage with the strategic alliance partner on the various day-to-day issues and opportunities arising from the collaboration. Ensure appropriate functions are engaged as appropriate.
  • Develop prioritization and rationale of annual resources planning with DS JMAT co-lead and DSI Franchise Heads.
  • Recommend and implement innovative process ideas and tools to improve the strategic partnership. Manage and maintain joint repository (e.g. SharePoint) for JMAT and Sub-Teams.
Communications and Meetings
  • Facilitate transparency and communication of all Sub-Teams working within JMAT, such as the Joint Evidence Generation Team, Joint Field Medical Team, and Joint Publication Team.
  • Conduct regular reviews/meetings with GMA Teams and functions across regions as appropriate to communicate current alliance partner status, key issues, activities, milestones, etc. and to gather feedback.
  • Lead internally and externally to optimize cross-functional communication; to include monitoring all related activities and lead Sub-Teams in resolving issues regarding effective communication and information flow, conflict or role clarity. Determines the cause, develop, and implements action plans to any identified issues.
  • Manage the agendas of JMAT and Sub-Team meetings with prior alignment with co-leads, identifying appropriate participants, and drafting of meeting minutes. Ensure full documentation of meeting discussions, decisions and action items. Track & ensure completion of agreed action items. Ensure appropriate archiving of project documentation and distribution of materials to appropriate recipients. e.g. scheduling meetings, manage attendees, setting agendas, operating presentation, taking meeting minutes, facilitating action item follow-up, etc.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant professional experience or equivalent required; advanced degree desirable
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in pharma industry of which 5 years PM experience. Alliance PM experience is a plus.
  • Strong project management experience. PMP, Six Sigma or similar professional project management certification is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, especially in areas of communication and change management
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work and expert organization skills
  • Proven ability to drive decision making process, including ability to challenge teams and achieve excellence
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter, results-oriented
  • Strong change management skills and engagement to enable continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt according to different levels of management
  • Ability to negotiate and align across franchise
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders
  • Strong Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills required, SAP experience a plus
