Any one of these could be your home for the summer!

We operate year-round, but because Mount Rainier is one of the snowiest places in the lower 48 states, our primary season is the warmest part of the summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Dining Room Assistant Manager - Paradise Inn - Seasonal - $23.00

JOB DESCRIPTION: PARADISE INN DINING ROOM ASSISTANT MANAGER UNIT 8500

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Dining Room Manager, assist in management of all aspects of Dining Room operations of busy, 200 seat, three meals per-day, restaurant. Majority of work day is spent on dining room floor to supervise the operation of the restaurant. Maintain a consistently high standard of guest service, sanitation, cleanliness, product presentation, and cost control. Assist in supervision of dining room staff to ensure tasks are completed in a friendly, safe and efficient manner. Respond to and resolve food and guest issues as they arise. This position reports to the Dining Room Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor, problem solve, and direct workers to ensure efficient and safe completion of all retail tasks daily.
  • Assist in training, on-boarding, and scheduling staff including monitoring break and lunch schedules.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with numerous people including Food & Beverage Manager, Dining Room Manager, Chefs and Cooks to ensure safe, professional, and efficient food service.
  • Participate in management and safety meetings.
  • Under guidance of Dining Room Manager, participate in and give working direction for pre and post season setup/teardown of the Dining Room.
  • Supervise staff appropriately to enforce standards and minimize personnel conflicts.
  • Assist in maintaining department records such as schedules, payroll, deposits, tips, and daily cash reports.
  • Performs such other related duties as directed or required.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least six months restaurant experience required. National Park experience strongly preferred.
  • ServSafe or Washington Food Handlers certification and MAST/TIPS required.
  • Basic computer knowledge & ability including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and food service POS systems.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lift, carry, and push up to 15 lbs. regularly, 20-30 lbs. frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Withstand temperature extremes in freezer, walk-in refrigerator, and grill areas.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and climb stairs occasionally.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of co-workers and the ability to speak clearly to be understood by same in English. Able to read and write work related documents in English.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Food service POS (Point of Sale) system including cash register and credit card terminal, combination safe
  • Typical office equipment (computer, phone system, fax, copier, scanner, among others.)

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used: goggles and gloves

Housing Available

• This position is eligible for employee housing with a room shared with another manager.
