Description: Our client is currently seeking a DFS Coordinator
Job Summary
Actively seeking a Departure From Specification (DFS) coordinator to process, edit and staff DFS engineering service requests (ESR) and other engineering documents as part of SWRMC`s engineering support to the U.S. Navy. This will be supporting SWRMC Code 205 in San Diego, CA.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Aid Engineering Department workload tracking using related applicable automation equipment and software tools
- Research and extraction of data from databases to support and edit DFS and ESR documents
- Accurately initiated, process, track, and review Departures-from-Specification in the SWRMC DFS portal, a web-based database program (Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC) Electronic Forms (eForms))
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the DFS office
- Produce weekly reports consisting of RMC Weekly Deploying Units DFS Report, Ships Key Certification Dates Un-adjudicated DFS, and SWRMC DFS Weekly Snapshot used by leadership to better track and prioritize tasks
- Provide presentations/daily reports - Evaluate responses from SMEs using knowledge of shipboard systems
- Ensure hours worked by technical codes for each assessment task are properly documented on each task for future data mining and workload forecasting
- Develop electronic reports
- Maintain a system for ensuring location of requested documents and purge files as required
- Ensure documents are properly disposed of - Use office automation equipment and software to an extensive degree
- Assist Engineering Department Managers with copying, filing, shredding and assembling various documents as required
- Provide assistance with gathering data for reports and assist with consolidating material
Minimum Requirements
- Must have 7 years of experience related to supporting maintenance, engineering or other technical efforts as either a technician, junior engineer, or engineering administrative support, OR, have a BS in a technical discipline with 1 year of technical experience
- Must have exceptionally strong organizational and communication skills, along with strong writing skills
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) prior to start date
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- U.S. Navy maintenance experience as a technician or experience supporting engineering organizations is strongly desired - Some familiarity with U.S. Navy ship systems and maintenance issues/resolutions
- Knowledge of Navy systems and collaborative experience to resolve issues prior work
- Shipyard and/or prior SWRMC experience
- Technical writing experience
