Job Description

As a Design responsible Engineer, you will be responsible for leading product design, development and integration activities. Responsibilities include utilizing engineering tools and processes to successfully develop components and systems for vehicle programs.

The position also requires creativity and team building abilities, in addition to a strong communications skillset

This posting is within (GSPT), team of engineers whose responsible for design and release of Drive Unit /Transmission Gears, Shafts & Power Transfer hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Design, Development, Validation and Release activities for Drive Unit GSPT hardware components including gears, shafts, bearings etc. from concept through production.
  • Project Management of all activities related tobringing components into production by leading across functional team comprised of Suppliers, Purchasing, Supplier Quality,along withvarious engineering groups across Manufacturing and Product Development, including but not limited to calibration, and development/validation specialists.
  • Serve as direct interface with program leadership including Chief Engineers and staff to provide technical design direction recommendations withbusiness case for your components.
  • Completing the Change Management Process (CMP) including, Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Electronic Design Release (EDR).
  • Coordinate on-time prototype component manufacture and delivery for build activities at GPS Pre-Production Operations (PPO) and transmission assembly plants.
  • Creating/Executing Development and Validation Plans
  • Implementing Continuous Improvement Projects (Warranty Reduction, Cost Reduction, Capacity Increase, Quality Improvement, etc.) with a cross functional team including suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, and the assembly plant.
  • Perform complex design analysis using engineering tools (Simulation, CAE, Bench testing, Dyno testing, Vehicle testing)
  • Create/Update component Design Failure Mode Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Lead in contributions to the betterment of GPS engineering best practices by improving and adhering to the Bill of Design (BoD) and Bill of Materials (BoM) for each component.
  • Lead in thecreation anddevelopment of new component technical specifications (CTS).
  • Travel as required (domestic & international)

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years in a Engineering role
  • Experience in leading projects with on-time completion, solving complex technical problems, working in cross-functional teams, working effectively with others

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • DFSS Black Belt Certification
