This position will be based in Edgewater, New Jersey and temporarily eligible for Work from Home. When our office reopens, you will be required to work from the office Monday-Friday.

What you will be doing:
The Design + Innovation team plays a key role in strategic pipeline definition, consumer insight research and creative direction, management, and execution of all new product launch initiatives.

A key function of this position involves partnering with brand managers and engineering program managers across the global and regional marketing organizations of the company. The cross-functional teams plan and execute programs within a multi-year product roadmap. The Design Manager serves as champion of design quality and consistency acting as consultant to the cross -functional teams.


  • Optimized user experience and consumer delight across physical and product-related digital user experiences (apps, etc.).

  • Handling outsourced design agencies.

  • Owning the process, setting and driving the meetings, and assuring good direction and proven design results.

  • Generate ID briefs communicating project vision and design intent to company and agencies.

  • Crafting product design consistency with brand language.

  • Leading and translating consumer/ethnographic insights into design opportunities.

  • Identifying and applying relevant innovation.

  • Assessing the appropriate level of design effort vital to achieve objectives.

  • Building design languages that cascade from brand equities.

  • Handle project schedules and budgets.

  • Lead design control documentation including color/material specifications.

  • Identifying and ally on the stories that help consumers understand and love our products and experiences.

  • Collaborating to assure these innovations end on the new product roadmap.


Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Ability to lead initiatives, spot opportunities, and redirect where vital

  • Strong problem solving skills-program constraints and requirements can be sophisticated and require innovative solutions

  • Ability to champion, educate and consult regarding benefits of design

  • Strong communication (writing, speaking and presentation skills)-ability to assertively sell ideas based on proven rationale and objectives

  • Organizational skills (able to set a plan to reach final results)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in related profession/field

  • 6+ years of proven experience in related field

  • Hardgoods experience

  • Strong awareness of global design trends

  • Presentation skills (Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint)

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, materials & processes


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Digital UX product experience (like apps) where it relates to physical products

  • Strong visualization and sketching skills ("Da'Vinci sketches")

  • 2D CAD skills: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • 3D CAD skills: Alias, ProEngineer
