Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the daily supervision of custodial workers in the assigned building(s).

  • Supervises and oversees employees' performance of routine custodial services and special cleaning projects. Plans, schedules, and prioritizes custodial work activities. Inspects completed work. Ensures adherence to established work standards and safe work practices.
  • Performs routine custodial duties and special cleaning projects. Duties include dusting, vacuuming, spot cleaning carpets, disposing of trash, sweeping, etc.
  • Serves as liaison between custodial staff and other staff and faculty members. Works closely and communicates with building occupants to ensure that custodial work does not disrupt operations. Provides quality customer service and promotes a positive working relationship between custodial staff and customers.
  • Responsible for inventory control of custodial supplies and equipment. Issues supplies and equipment and ensures proper use. Inspects equipment and ensures proper maintenance and daily cleaning of carts, vacuums, floor machines, etc.
  • Initiates work orders for carpet cleaning, maintenance, repairs, pest control, and other services that cannot be performed by custodial staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two years experience or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to two years. (Note: Relevant training may substitute for experience.)
A valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

  • Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
